Social work is a profession based on understanding the individual and his or her interaction with their environment. Muslim Family Services’ possess a holistic approach to the helping process. We provide proficient confidential services for the GTA Muslim Community. Our competent and skilled team is dedicated to ensure effective services in Counselling/Intervention, Educational and Family Support.

Their role is extremely broad, allowing extensive group and individual interaction. MFS’s responsibilities range from teaching, psycho-social analysis, emotional, spiritual and self-management skills to carrying out the plans professionally.

As efficient social workers we maintain sensitivity to ethnic, racial, cultural diversity and every aspect of our clientele as per the code of ethics. Empathy and genuineness allows us to involve in observing behaviours firsthand and communicating effectively with clients.

As the growing Muslim immigrant population elevates the demand of various services required also increases. Muslim Family Services focuses on preventing culture shock within the diverse community. Our aim is to preserve and strengthen families, by maintaining the family demographics and values of Muslims in Canada.

Counselling / Intervention

We provide a non-clinical aspect of counselling to our clients who are in need. Herein we deliver psychosocial therapy without any medical intervention. Our techniques and strategies are systems-based which emphasizes on cognitive-behavioural and relationship-based intervention approaches. The intention is to empower the clients and alleviate their concerns; thereby bringing out their self confidence and esteem, while maintaining confidentiality. There has been rising concerns within the community that our religious, social and family values are under threat of deterioration. We believe that families and individuals in crisis contribute to an un-healthy life and atmosphere within the community and society. At MFS we provide trained and experienced programs to reach diverse community, through goals of learning initiative. Our informative programs deliver a common set of values, a common language for communicating across systems, a common yet comprehensive approach for thinking through problems. Family Support Services

Our support services department is a very important sector of the social service network system. We link our clients with the available community resources; provide information and education along with referral services. This is the most vital part of our service system. At MFS we believe that the principles upon which a family is founded are based on defined responsibilities that form and make up a healthy and balanced relationship not only between husband and wife, but also parents, children and relatives of the nuclear family. A family can only grow morally and spiritually if every member of the multigenerational family system are bonded and committed to a solid and joyful relationship. Thus Islam offers us a whole package of guidance relating to marriage, family life, raising children, caring elders, serving relatives and also provides solution for the problems in crisis management style. Our target in MFS is to combine Islamic guidance and professional skills in our services while maintaining confidentiality in all aspects.
