Education

We aim to educate and facilitate moral principle values based on which the foundations of Muslim families stand. Our parents and children acquire the proper knowledge, skills and attitude in order to be more productive in society and in every aspect of our lives. There has been rising concerns within the community that our religious, social and family values are under threat of deterioration. We believe that families and individuals in crisis contribute to an un-healthy life and atmosphere within the community and society. At MFS we provide trained and experienced programs to reach diverse community, through goals of learning initiative. Our informative programs deliver a common set of values, a common language for communicating across systems, a common yet comprehensive approach for thinking through problems. The following are our means of navigation through the system of education.

Lecture/Workshops

Muslim Family Services invites highly knowledgeable guest speakers to educate families regarding various issues and topics. Primarily the focus of these lectures is to train and provide awareness within the community. These workshops are conducted by-monthly on weekends on our different locations. For more details and the upcoming subject matters please check in our events regularly for updates and venues.

Foster Parenting

This is MFS’s long term Goal. In this program we intend to educate families in understanding the responsibilities of foster parenting. Our aim is that there are more Muslim parents capable of overcoming the duties of this program so as to support the Muslim children who can no longer live with their families. In our community there are Muslim children who have to leave their families either temporarily or permanently due to various reasons. We hope to integrate such children with the moral values along with diet that Islam focuses on. Insha’Allah we are working with the local agencies in developing foster parent training programs for the parent’s of the Muslim community.

Kids Care

Our kids care program focuses on educating mothers, fathers or soon becoming parents, on effective parenting. We also provide training programs for our parents which are conducted by our specialist child psychologist and early childhood educators. Members of our professional team usually give a brief lecture, about the importance of child care and it’s related issues on ethnic Radio program 770 AM every Thursday at 4:00 pm. This is also a part of our education efforts for the community. We are also developing small support groups to facilitate child care knowledge. These basic groups shall be an opportunity for the parents to link with each other, thereby eliminating isolation; also share experiences with one another.
