Support Services
Our support services department
is a very important sector of the social service
network system. We link our clients with the available
community resources; provide information and education
along with referral services. This is the most
vital part of our service system. At MFS we believe
that the principles upon which a family is founded
are based on defined responsibilities that form
and make up a healthy and balanced relationship
not only between husband and wife, but also parents,
children and relatives of the nuclear family.
A family can only grow morally and spiritually
if every member of the multigenerational family
system are bonded and committed to a solid and
joyful relationship. Thus Islam offers us a whole
package of guidance relating to marriage, family
life, raising children, caring elders, serving
relatives and also provides solution for the problems
in crisis management style. Our target in MFS
is to combine Islamic guidance and professional
skills in our services while maintaining confidentiality
in all aspects.

Community Referral Services
Muslim Family Services is dedicated to
serve as a resource directory to others in GTA by linking
clients with the effective community resources. Our
intention is to educate and inform our clients while
broadening our horizon in the community. In order to
maintain continuing care to our clients we ensure stabilized
resource support. |

Support
services for cognitively and physically challenged
Impairments affect an individual and his
support network significantly. We as social workers
at MFS acknowledge the person-in-environment theory,
where in the focus are not only on how to provide services
to the individual but also to every member in his/her
family, friends, social system that require outreach/help/assistance;
and deal with issues surrounding impairments sensitively.
We also understand the caregiver burden issues and therefore
our support services are focused on informing clients
of day programs available to avoid caregiver burnouts,
isolations. We are available to provide any community
information that may benefit our client in these circumstances.
Our counsellors are also available to discuss any challenges
clients or their care givers face. |

Immigration Resettlement
and Outreach Services
We are skilled in providing wide range
of services to newcomers to Canada. We are capable of
communicating in English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Arabic.
Our services include job search programs offered by
the region of Peel, Halton and HRDC. We also emphasize
on effective résumé writing, filling out forms. We connect
clients with the nearest available LINC program-Language
Instruction for Newcomers to Canada in the area. |

Support
Services for the Frail Elderly Persons
At MFS another major focus of our services
is concerned with the gerontological issues. As the
Muslim population is aging in Canada we are developing
concerns day by day with their health and care-giver
issues. We provide knowledge and education surrounding
care-giver burden, depression among the elderly also
about cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer and Dementia.
Our social workers are also committed in making the
best community support system available for the elderly. |

Information Giving
This carries yet again the holistic overview
of our services where in we provide wide variety of
information to various sectors of the community. Our
information’s are based on the available community
resources. We also provide information on youth services,
applying for legal aid, subsidized housing and daycare

Newsletter
Our website is focussing on delivering
our readers a quarterly newsletter which consists of
a compilation of various interesting articles, catering
to a wide range of topics. Our subjects cover from family
dynamics to health and spirituality. Muslim Family Services
also encourages our regular visitors to send their articles
to us via email so that we can publish them on the net
and share it with others. Already published articles
