Hunger is a very real and widespread problem in many parts of the world. In our own community, many struggle daily to provide for their elderly, children and families by putting food on the table. Those of us who are blessed with sufficient provisions can make a difference by helping to feed the poor and needy of our local community.
What is ICNA Relief Food Bank?
The ICNA Relief Food Bank is a community run project of ICNA Relief Canada, initiated in August 2005.

Service Outreach Area
The Food Banks target needy people within their specific regions. A large number of people representing many different ethnic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds utilize this service due to either unemployment or their inability to find jobs upon immigrating to Canada.
Who Uses the Food Bank?
The Food Bank is a place of last resort for poverty-stricken people who cannot afford to feed themselves or their families.
How does a Family Register?
Applicants must meet the established financial-need criteria to register with the ICNA Relief Food Bank. Due to limited resources, only registered members may use the Food Bank, once per month. This allows us to ensure that all impoverished families are able to take advantage of this service.
Where does the Food come from?
The ICNA Relief Food Bank is a community-support project that is completely dependent on the cash and non perishable food donations of community members. We organize food drives throughout the year to collect non-perishable food items with the support of local community groups, grocery shops and committed individuals like you.
Is the Food Bank meeting the current demand for food by the less fortunate?
Unfortunately, poverty is a deeply rooted problem in most Canadian communities, and thus requires constant support from caring members of society, like you. ICNA Relief's Food Banks, in all the cities they operate, make their best effort to combat this problem, but cannot do the job without your support.
How can you help the Food Bank?
You can help the Food Bank by:
- Making monetary donation (Online, Cheque or Cash): commit to a one-time or monthly purchase of a Food Bansket that will provide the basics for a family.
- Providing non perishable food supplies: see food bank locations, above, for drop off sites.
- Helping in fund raising & giving time for food drives: fill out the volunteer signup sheet to learn how you can join in the effort!
- Motivating peer groups and families for donations
All donations qualify for a tax credit and your support will be put to immediate use by helping individuals and families who are unable to help themselves. All your donations for the Food Bank will be used exclusively for providing food to the needy and vulnerable members of the local community.
Utilize your Food Bank if you feel you qualify, by contacting one of the locations above.
