At least 152 dead in the Indian states of Assam and Bihar following monsoon rains that also hit Nepal and Bangladesh. Tens of thousands evacuated as floods driven by torrential monsoon rains ravaged India’s eastern states. 1 million displaced in the north-eastern state of Assam alone. Floods have also damaged large tracts of agricultural land and infrastructure in the northern states of Bihar and Himachal Pradesh, as well as West Bengal state in the east. India’s meteorological department has said that heavy rains are likely to continue.
Thousands are in need of Food, Clean Water, First Aid and Temporary Shelter among other items. As always, ICNA Relief Canada’s partners in India have promptly mobilized their teams and are preparing to procure and deliver the much needed relief supplies to those affected.
